Leave a legacy at Rungstedlund
– On testamentary gifts and bequests to the Karen Blixen Museum and Bird Sanctuary Rungstedlund
The Karen Blixen Museum and Rungstedlund Bird Sanctuary are owned by a non-profit institution, the Rungstedlund Foundation.
The Bird Sanctuary and the Museum are run exclusively through private means and receive no public funding.
It is expensive to run a bird sanctuary and a museum. In order to ensure that the Bird Sanctuary and Museum can continue and, thus, preserve the memory of Karen Blixen and her works, there is a need for more private support. It was stated in Karen Blixen’s will that she wanted the entirety of Rungstedlund to be designated as a bird sanctuary and that the buildings be used for cultural purposes.
Thus, by supporting the Rungstedlund Foundation, you can be certain that the entirety of your bequest/gift will be used in full to preserve the Karen Blixen Museum and Bird Sanctuary.
The testamentary provisions in your will regarding the disposition of your bequest should be drawn up by an attorney or solicitor. The Rungstedlund Foundation’s advisors will gladly discuss these matters with your attorney or solicitor.
Please contact Museum Director Catherine Lefebvre, who will be happy to help you.
